DAY 1: ARRIVE IN AVIGNON Meals: Dinner
Pick up in Avignon TGV Station and transfer to the hotel.
Check in at your 4* hotel in Avignon center and rest of day at leisure (your package includes tickets for Palace of the Popes and Pont d'Avignon).
Appreciate a 3-course dinner (without drinks) at a local fine restaurant.
DAY 2: ALL PROVENCE IN A DAY Meals: Breakfast, Dinner
After breakfast, you will be picked up at your hotel by your driver-guide for a full-day shared tour of the most beautiful monuments and spots of Provence:
Departure from Avignon to Roussillon built at the top of an ochre cliff, and providing visitors with a beautiful understanding of the harmonious combination of man and nature, and of ochre and stone ; with all these ochre-washed facades. Enjoy the market in Roussillon (Thursday).
Continuation to Gordes which is a village erected on the top of a cliff, its fortified castle and church dominate the typical houses of the village which were built with stones from the rock on which they are fitting.
Drive to Fontaine de Vaucluse: walk up to the cave from which the River Sorgues emerges. This impressive resurgence spring hasn't revealed its secrets yet and many speleologists have searched in vain the exact depth of the well.
Free time for lunch (not included) on your own in Gordes or Fontaine de Vaucluse.
Continue to the Pont du Gard and visit the best preserved aqueduct of the Roman period, dating back to the 1st century and listed by UNESCO.
Visit the medieval village of Les Baux de Provence, located on a rocky spur in the Alpilles mountain range, with its historical center, beautiful houses of the 16th century, and its Romanesque styled St-Vincent Church.
Stop at the Antiques in Saint Rémy de Provence (Triumphal Arch and mausoleum) located in an olive-tree field before heading back to Avignon.
Enjoy a 3-course dinner (without drinks) at another fine restaurant.
DAY 3: CULTURE AND WINE MORNING TOUR - EMBARKATION Meals: Breakfast, Dinner onboard
Breakfast & check-out.
Pick up at your hotel for a morning shared tour: Orange: panoramic tour of the city and its roman monuments, Triumphal Arch, Antique Theater (entrance ticket and audioguide included) one of the best preserved theaters from the Roman period. Châteauneuf du Pape: scenic drive and sightseeing in the vineyards followed by a wine-tasting in a cellar. Good introduction to the wines of the Rhône Valley. During the tour, get explanations about "terroir", grape varieties, vinification and aging cellars.
Drop off at your hotel and lunch on your own. You will then be transferred mid-afternoon to your floating hotel "Anne Marie" for your cruise.
After comfortably settling into your cabins, we'll introduce our crew at a welcome cocktail before dinner.
DAY 4: SETE Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner onboard
We'll leave on an excursion of the Etang De Thau, famous for its shellfish. We'll visit the Etang de Thau Museum, where you'll discover the shellfish farmers and fishermen, and you'll be able to taste some of the shellfish while taking in the beauty of the basin from a terrace. The afternoon will be dedicated to a tour of Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert, one of the most beautiful villages in France. After our visits, we'll return to our ship.
We'll spend the morning cruising towards Palavas-Les-Flots. We'll cross the Etang De Thau, before joining the Rhône à Sète Canal. We'll arrive by late morning. This afternoon, we'll set out on a tour to discover a "manade" and the life of its herders. We'll travel by wagon and take part in a bull sorting. Before returning to the boat, we'll have a delicious snack with products coming from the farm. Tonight, take advantage of some free time and discover the spa resort of Palavas-Les-Flots, whose rich identity reaches back for more than three centuries.
We'll spend the morning cruising on the Rhône à Sète Canal to Aigues-Mortes, arriving at the end of the morning. This afternoon, join us for a tour of Aigues-Mortes. This old, fortified city with a rich heritage is located in the middle of the marshes and is one of the most beautiful sites in Provence. We'll board a tourist train and tour the salt marches and visit the salt museum. After our visits, we'll return to our ship.
We'll spend the morning cruising towards Gallician. We'll set out on an excursion this afternoon to the Camargue. Then you can enjoy some free time in the splendid city of Saint-Marie-la-Mer, where we recommend a visit to its fortified church. After our visit, we'll return to the ship by coach.
We'll spend the morning cruising towards Arles and travel on both the Rhône à Sète and Rhône canals. This afternoon, enjoy a tour of Arles. We'll discover this cultural center and its Roman ruins, and then travel inland to find out about olive oil production in Provence. We'll finish up our tour by tasting some local products. After our visits, we'll return to our ship. Tonight is our gala evening and dinner.
DAY 9: ARLES - DISEMBARKATION
Your cruise comes to an end...Enjoy one last buffet breakfast on board before disembarking in Arles.
