To perfectly balance your travel experience, between cruising time, touring and free time onboard & onshore, guests are instructed to select no more than ONE excursion per day (morning or afternoon)
Tours are for 8 persons maximum in most cases for a more intimate, personalized experience and to give you greater access to your expert local leader; Bookings of over 8 passengers may be split into smaller groups.
Advance reservation is required for each tour of your choice.
Day 1: Avignon (Embark)

MORNING “A La Carte” Excursions Options: AVIGNON & POPE'S PALACE WALKING TOUR
Explore the historical center of Avignon on a 3-hour walking tour with your English-speaking guide.
Climbing up to the top of the fortified medieval city walls, discover Avignon stretching in all its beauty along the Rhône river. Discover the rich historical past of Avignon where the papacy established in the early 14C. Enjoy skip the-line access and follow your guide inside the Pope's Palace (entrance ticket included), largest Gothic-styled Palace in Europe. In this maze of galleries, chambers and chapels, imagine its luxurious furnishing and sumptuous decoration from the medieval period.
Walking on the cobbled streets to the Place de l'Horloge, find out about the secret of the painted windows. See the Town Hall topped with its clock tower, and the theatre.
Your tour will end up with a glass of Côtes du Rhône wine served in a historical place close to the Pope's Palace.
Guests must be able to walk over paved streets, then climb a series of steps to reach the Pope's palace.
Comfortable walking shoes recommended.
MORNING “A La Carte” Excursions Options: CULTURE AND WINE IN ORANGE & CHATEAUNEUF DU PAPE
Orange: panoramic tour of the city and its roman monuments, Triumphal Arch, Antique Theater (entrance ticket and audioguide included) one of the best preserved theaters from the Roman period.
Châteauneuf du Pape: scenic drive and sightseeing in the vineyards followed by a wine-tasting in a cellar. Good introduction to the wines of the Rhône Valley. During the tour, get explanations about "terroir", grape varieties, vinification and aging cellars.
MORNING “A La Carte” Excursions Options: VAN GOGH IN PROVENCE
Discover the landscapes which inspired Vincent Van Gogh!
In Arles, walk through the Roman city, the amphitheatre, ancient theater, and look at the main places painted by Van Gogh during his stay in 1888 and 1889.
Stop at Les Baux de Provence to admire the village from the Val d'Enfer panoramic view.
Enjoy the audiovisual show (ticket included) at the Carrières de Lumière: a multimedia exhibition of famous paintings (Vincent Van Gogh is the 2019 theme) are displayed on the walls of the quarry accompanied by music.
At Saint-Rémy de Provence, take a look at Saint-Paul de Mausole to see some sites painted by Van Gogh (entrance fee not included).
MORNING “A La Carte” Excursions Options: DISCOVER THE VILLAGES OF THE LUBERON
Departure from Avignon to Roussillon built at the top of an ochre cliff, and providing visitors with a beautiful understanding of the harmonious combination of man and nature, and of ochre and stone ; with all these ochrewashed façades.
Continuation towards Gordes which is a village erected on the top of a cliff, its fortified castle and church dominate the typical houses of the village which were built with stones from the rock on which they are fitting.
Drive to Fontaine de Vaucluse: walk up to the cave from which the River Sorgues emerges. This impressive resurgence spring hasn't revealed its secrets yet and many speleologists have searched in vain the exact depth of the well.
AFTERNOON “A La Carte” Excursions Options: GIGONDAS AND CHATEAUNEUF DU PAPE WINE TOUR
Start your afternoon wine-tasting tour with the village of Gigondas. Located at the foot of the Dentelles de Montmirail hill range, the vineyard covers an area of 12 km² : the wines produced belong to the Crus of the southern Côtes du Rhône. The Grenache noir expresses its full flavour in glimmering red wines with pronounced
tannins, a robust body, and a solid propensity for ageing.
Continuation to the famous vineyard of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The ruins of the Pope's formal summer residence dominate the typical medieval village.
The 13 varieties of grapes combined with the various soils create a large palette of complex red wines and elegant white wines. Enjoy a wine-tasting in one of the numerous cellars of the village before going back to Avignon.
AFTERNOON “A La Carte” Excursions Options: BEST OF PROVENCE
Visit of the famous site of Pont du Gard (entrance fee included) dating back to the first century AD and listed by UNESCO: it is the most amazing and best-preserved part of the Roman aqueduct of Nimes.
Discover Les Baux de Provence, village located on a rocky spur at 245 meters of altitude. Drive to the famous village of Gordes and enjoy some free time in Roussillon which both rank among the most beautiful villages in France.
AFTERNOON “A La Carte” Excursions Options: STONE MONUMENTS
Discover the Roman and Medieval architectures with the famous Pont du Gard (entrance fee included), the best preserved aqueduct of the Roman period (1st century AD) and the medieval fortress of Les Baux de Provence. Enjoy some free time to visit the village located on a rocky spur in the Alpilles mountain range.
Saint-Rémy de Provence: Stop at the Antiques (Triumphal Arch and Roman Mausoleum) located in an olive-tree field.

MORNING Guided tour of historic Arles OR “A La Carte” Excursions Options: VAN GOGH IN PROVENCE FROM ARLES
Today the city of Arles is extremely linked to the painter Van Gogh. He stayed in Arles from February 1888 for 15 months and painted here more than 300 pieces of work.
Start the tour with a short walk in Saint-Rémy de Provence to see Van Gogh's paintings.
Visit Saint Paul de Mausole (entrance fee included): this was the mental hospital where he spent the last part of his life in a Romanesque monastery with a charming 12th century cloister. You can visit there the reconstitution of the room of the artist and see around the reproductions of his paintings made in the Alpilles and olive groves when he was allowed to get out.
Continue to Montmajour abbey (entrance fee not included) to make a stop to take picture of this magnificent place which was a source of inspiration for the artist. There he produced many drawings from 1888 to 1889 as he was fascinated by the site.
On the way back to Arles, photo stop at the Pont Langlois. This drawbridge on a canal reminded him of his homeland in the Netherlands.

Admire Les Baux de Provence, medieval village labeled as "one of the most beautiful villages in France". This immense and superb stone fortress is without doubt one of the "must-sees" on the Provencal tourist trail!

Wine-tasting in an estate at the foot of the Alpilles hill range.
The wines of Les Baux are defined by the unique, multi-faceted character of the soil, naturally protected and dried by the mistral wind. The Baux de Provence wines have been officially recognized since 1995 by a "Registered Designation of Origin" (Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée).
Day 4: La Camargue
♦ Morning cruise during breakfast (7-10 AM) towards Port Saint Louis, Aigues Mortes or Saint Gilles in the Camargue
♦ Enjoy a FULL DAY TOUR OF THE CAMARGUE and learn more about the history and local culture of this fascinating area of France:
You’ll be welcomed by flamingos and herons. You’ll see black bulls and white horses, companions of the cowboys on the “manades” (ranches of the Camargue); all emblematic features of the Camargue. You’ll learn about the 400 species of birds found here and visit one of the manades, ranches of the Camargue, where you’ll enjoy a typical lunch and taste some of the specialties of the region. Our tour will continue to Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer; You will explore at your own pace this picturesque Roman era fishing village built on an island in the heart of the Camargue, where the Petit Rhône joins the sea.
